Easter weekend and the crowds were coming in all morning! Good thing I got there early and left by the time it was crazy! But the laughter of the families is always a nice "background music".  A beautiful morning...

"Keokea"

Wow the waves were just going crazy on the north end of the island this day!! I didn't even begin to do them justice...guess I'll just have to go back again... and again...

"Los Cocos Rojos"

Memories... the view in 1197 outside my art gallery window on the Island of Taboga. I loved this house... the way it fronted the sea and the collection of boats on the beach. I could often imagine living there.

Out the Door

I realize every day that I am so blessed to live in such a magical place as Puako, Hawaii. Where views such as this greet me when I step out my front door... where I am ever amazed by the gift of talent I have been given through my life, to be able to try and capture such beauty. Oh! I am "but the brush"....and I am so grateful...mahalo.

Puako Skies

My neighbors place to the south, I love the old "Hawaiian style" look to the roof of this house, it's all up on stilts so it'll still be there in a tsunami!

"Morning Sun Cat"

Started out the door to paint out back, and there was my cat Mieux, sitting in her place on my bed in the sun. I quickly grabbed all my supplies from outside, and proceed to paint. It's not quite "Mieux", but I think I captured the gist of the moment...

"RED SAILS"

Stopped by Kawaihae jetty where I saw  these beauties getting ready to sail! There being absolutely NO shade in sight, I sat in my car (passenger side) with my panel in my lap, having just enough time  before they headed out into the ocean.

Always find something inspiring at the canoe clubs around the island. This time it was this beauty in the shade of the palm trees..

"View of Hualalai"

Ole Blue (my trusty pick up truck) headed to Kawaihae Harbor where I captured this scene early in the morning.  Started out alone, but soon I was surrounded by young Boy Scouts and off duty soldiers all jumping into the ocean beside me. Happy sounds!

"Kona Village Hut"

The lonely hales at Kona Village... once so exquisite, now falling to the elements since the tsunami hit the coastline in 2011. Truly the end of an era...

"Canoe at Anaehoomalu Beach"

Too  many darn flies around this site and no bug repellent! It was crazy... I had to paint quickly, or go nuts! Didn't quite get  the lovely curve on the ama of the canoe...maybe I'll have better luck next time when I bring the bug spray...

"First Light at Paniau"

Heading out on the trail south from Paniau, the clouds rapidly changed from a pink to orange to yellow... ya gotta be fast to catch those colors! I arrived around 7 a.m, just when the first rays of sunlight were hitting the beach. Beautiful morning, nice relaxing painting session.

"Labor Day in Waikoloa"

Wanting to get away from the Labor Day crowds and find a quiet spot to paint, I headed south in Ole Blue (my pickup truck) with no real place in mind. Just gave her rein, and she turned into the Hilton Waikoloa area and parked herself. What, no ocean view?! This was my scenery, looking mauka toward Mauna Kea. I painted peacefully for a good part of the morning , while in the distance I could hear happy bikers thundering down the highway.

"Rising Tide, Puako"

I love living so close to the Puako tidepools that I can paint from my backyard. I keep trying to capture the subtle changing colors of the ocean against the lava rocks... gotta work fast as it changes quickly by the hour and the time of day.

"Down Palm"

Just down the seawall from where I live is this exquisite palm, leaning sideways to sip from the ocean, still alive. Just tired of standing up I suppose, and waiting for someone to come along and paint her. That someone would be me early one August morning.

"Soon the Wind"

Painted this one last month, in July. These summer  days have been hot but mercifully breezy. I found some shade in the very corner of the yard to paint this view of the north Kohala coast. My luscious neverending view...  By the time I finished I had to keep adjusting the painting (and the easel ) because of  the wind and was just shy of starting to paint whitecaps when I stopped. Enough painting!  Time for another one of those delicious ocean dips!!
